Irf retic count
WebBackground: The reticulocyte count is a good marker of erythropoietic activity of the bone marrow. In the mid-1990s, automated flow cytometric analysis replaced microscopy for the quantification of reticulocytes. Leukocytosis cases with an erroneously high reticulocyte count and a high immature reticulocyte fraction (IRF) have been reported. WebThe reticulocyte count is expressed as a percentage of the total number of RBCs. In the setting of a normal hemoglobin, the reticulocyte count is about 1–2%. In patients with moderate or severe anemia, the reticulocyte count may appear elevated, but in absolute terms, it may be insufficient for the degree of anemia.

WebMethods: Using a Coulter LH700 instrument, we measured reticulocyte count (Retics), mean reticulocyte volume (MRV), immature reticulocyte fraction (IRF), and mean sphered cell volume (MSCV) in 106 male professional elite athletes (football and rugby players and skiers). Reference intervals for the athletes were compared with the intervals found ... WebIncreased IRF (IRF > or = 0.23) and increased ARC generally indicated an adequate erythroid response to anemia. WebImmature reticulocyte fraction (IRF) was calculated as (M+H) percentage of reticulocytes. Results: A wide range of OSA severity was found [apnoea/hypopnoea index (AHI): 44.3 +/- 30.4, range 0.3-105; sleep time spent at oxyhaemoglobin saturation <90%: 18.1 +/- 22.2%, range 0-81%]. Both reticulocyte count and IRF slightly exceeded the normal range.
